Academic Supervisor

The Academic Supervisor is called to love young disciples in all interactions, build influence by identifying and meeting needs, and model what it looks like to demonstrate the character of God. The Academic Supervisor’s primary focus is inspiring our young disciples toward academic achievement and spiritual growth.

Duties

Academic

  1. Administer student diagnostic testing and place in the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) appropriately.

  2. Be available to and respectful of all students.

  3. Encourage consistent effort on a student’s personalized ACE curriculum.

  4. Encourage consistent academic achievement and diligent work habits, praising good character and motivating and encouraging students to do their very best.

  5. Consistently disciple students to build self-control.

  6. Inspire achievement.

  7. Prepare, administer, grade, and record tests.

  8. Be available and respectfully answer all questions.

  9. Listen attentively, evaluate requests, and demonstrate personal interest.

  10. Help young disciples learn punctuality by being cognizant of their time.

  11. Encourage consistent and diligent work habits.

  12. Monitor student goal progress, scoring, and PACE (Packets of Accelerated Christian Education) work.

  13. Guide young disciples to find answers for themselves.

  14. Help young disciples learn effective study habits.

  15. Prepare and regularly update student academic projections and assign PACEs accordingly.

  16. Maintain daily attendance records.

  17. Maintain goal charts and star charts.

Discipleship

  1. Model Christlike behavior.

  2. Pray with and for young disciples.

  3. Lead character development activities.

  4. Assist in leading morning meetings and devotional time.

Behavioral

  1. Administer consistent encouragement, recognition, and discipline as necessary.

  2. Supervise young disciples during all activities.

  3. Help students remain focused and on-track.

General

  1. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.

  2. Assist in preparing and serving breakfast, snack, and lunch each day.

  3. Assist with learning center set up and break down.

  4. Complete necessary paperwork and file records in an organized manner.

  5. Maintain PACE inventory.

  6. Create weekly shopping lists.

Work Requirements

  1. 38 hours per week during operating months except for vacations and holidays as per ministry schedule. Four weeks of paid time off each summer

  2. Average of 25 hours per week for summertime professional development.

  3. Arrive by 9:00am on Mondays and 7:45am Tuesday through Friday.

  4. Stay until 3:00pm on Mondays and 3:45pm Tuesday through Friday.

Annual Salary Range

$33,000 to $37,000

Additional take home work available at $18 per hour

Terms of Employment

The Academic Supervisor shall normally be employed under contract for a period of one year, to coincide with the beginning and end of the fiscal year. Summers are paid contingent upon contract renewal. The Executive Director will decide annually if a new employment is to be offered. A decision will be made by June 1st of each fiscal year. Acceptance or rejection of the offer should be within two weeks.

Qualifications

  1. Demonstrate evidence of spiritual leadership, maturity, and character.

  2. Demonstrate effective interpersonal and social skills when relating to young disciples, families, and staff.

  3. Supervision within an academic environment is highly preferred.

  4. Youth ministry experience is highly preferred.

  5. Demonstrate a desire to grow in Christ and to help others to do the same.

  6. Compassion and a willingness to learn.

  7. A bachelor’s degree in education or a ministry related field is highly preferred.
